Sony Xperia Z4 was officially revealed on April 20 in Japan. The news came as a surprise amidst the expectation that Sony's latest flagship would make its debut in September. But here it is - appearing much sooner than that - albeit only in Japan for now. At first glance, the Z4 looks like it's continuing the design philosophy of previous 'Z' series phones, while kitting out its interior with next-gen flagship hardware.

Sony Xperia Z4 release date
While no Xperia Z4 release date has yet been planned for the US, UK
or Europe, the phone will be available to buy in Japan later this
summer. We expect a European release to follow not much later however,
and believe that
the Xperia Z4 will be presented at IFA 2015 in
September, where we'll finally be able to get our hands on it.
Sony Xperia Z4 design
The Xperia Z4 has a metal and glass chassis, retaining the
'OmniBalance' design that Sony's phones have become recognizable
for. This means that the Z4 design has a sharp, angular design, with a
glass front and back, and a metal rim around the sides of the phone.
The volume rocker, standby button, and camera shutter button are all on the right side of
the Xperia Z4, while the few official images we have don't appear to show anything on the left side. However, the official images seem to confirm the legitimacy of images leaked from @OnLeaks back in March, which more clearly show the other side of the Z4. In the image below, we can see that on the left side of the phone is what appears to be the SIM card slot.

This led to some speculation that Sony was dropping IP67 dust- and waterproofing for the phone, but thankfully Sony has confirmed that the Xperia Z4 will be IP6X-certified for dust, and IPX5/IPX8 for water (letting it go 5 feet underwater for 30 minutes).
