Top 5 best quality smartphones for 2015 inundated with choice in the Android marketplace and with android latest features available in its , but each year there are only a few devices that really rise to the top of the heap to contend for the title of best Android phone. With the likes of the Galaxy S6 and HTC One M9 now tempting smartphone owners everywhere, there's no better time to update our list. Of course, there are flagships galore, but expect a couple of lower-end great-value devices to creep in too. To help you sort the wheat from the chaff, here's are the best Android smartphones of 2015.

1. LG G Flex 2

The LG G Flex 2 price starts at around 800 USD in the US, and 500 GBP in the UK.

The LG G Flex 2 is first phone to be curved and flexible, the original LG G Flex suffered from a few issues like a weak camera, low resolution display with ghosting problems and a high price tag. While the price tag may have come down in the new LG G Flex 2, lots of other things have improved and the G Flex successor is a force to be reckoned with. 2. Moto X

The Moto X is a stylish, powerful phone that's worthy of its flagship status at Motorola. True to Motorola's reputation for offering plenty of customizability, the Moto X lets you choose between leather and wood back covers, framed by a metallic rim all around the sides.

Screen

Sony Xperia Z2 sreenAs we've already mentioned, the screen is a little larger at 5.2in which does mean marginally more room to do stuff, but we wish that Sony had stuck with 5in and worked on reducing the bezels to create a smaller phone than previously.

It still has a Full HD resolution, like other 2014 flagship rivals, which means the pixel density has dropped slightly but it's not really noticeable – 423ppi is more than respectable. It still has Sony's Triluminos and X-Reality technologies and a new one called Live Colour LED which Sony says increases colour depth and gradation.

The display may look slightly better than before – mainly viewing angles - but it's certainly not a big jump in quality. Things have been top-notch since the original Xperia Z but it's nice to Sony pushing things forward.

Processor

There's also a change in processor from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 up to the new 801. The Xperia Z2 being the first smartphone we've seen with the quad-core processor which is clocked at 2.3GHz and is backed up by a whopping 3GB of RAM.

Sony says the Snapdragon 801 is 75 percent faster than the Snapdragon S4 Pro. But the Xperia Z1 has a Snapdragon 800, not an S4 Pro and from a user perspective, the difference in minimal. The GPU remains at the Adreno 330 which is no bad thing.

It's speedy and we've seen no signs of major lag, although like the Galaxy S5, transition animations aren't as quick as the iPhone 5s and HTC One M8 so it doesn't feel quite as snappy – a minor difference. The home screen content, namely widgets, can take a little while to load in the first instance but again it's not a big problem.

We take benchmarking results with a pinch of salt since it emerged that some manufacturers use benchmark-boosting software. However, in Geekbench 3 the Sony Xperia Z2 recorded 933 points in the single-core test and 2796 points in the multi-core test. In SunSpider we saw 861ms, and in GFXBench's T-Rex test the Sony Xperia Z2 managed 29fps.

Storage

We seem to be going a bit backwards on the storage front with Sony, like HTC, only offering 16GB of internal storage with the Xperia Z2. Luckily, there is a microSD card for adding up to 64GB more storage.

Wireless

The Xperia Z2 is packed with the latest wireless technology so you'll be sorted with dual-band Wi-Fi up to 11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 with aptX, NFC and 4G LTE are all on-board. However, if you're looking for feartures such as an infrared transmitter or wireless charging then you'll have to look elsewhere.

Audio

We don't normally give audio its own section but there are a few noteworthy features which the Xperia Z2 offers in this area.

For starters, it has front facing stereo speakers which is something quite rare for a smartphone. We've only really seen this feature on the HTC One and HTC One M8. It may not be a big deal for some users, but it does mean you can share a YouTube video or just play music at a decent volume and quality.

The Xperia Z2 also comes with digital noise-cancelling which cuts out background noise – great for travelling on trains and planes or just noisy environments. You'll need compatible headphones (which have built-in microphones) to make use of the feature and Sony has confirmed that some retailers will ship the Z2 with MDR-NC31EM headphones. Sony Xperia Z2 Best smartphone for 2016 has been proven because Between the Xperia Z and Xperia Z1, the smartphone took a reasonably big design change, adding a nice rounded aluminium bezel round the edge. However, changes between the Z1 and Z2 are very minimal. You really have to look for the differences because they are not obvious. The main thing is the new, almost hidden, ear piece (which contains the notification LED) and microphone at the top and bottom. There's also an identical slot to the ear piece at the bottom where another speaker resides (see hardware for more info).

Unfortunately, the device is a little too large and the size means it's a little unwieldy – you'll need to use two hands a lot of the time. The glass front and rear covers separated by that aluminium frame give a real premium feel and the device is robust. A minor caveat is that the device is a little bit sharp around the edge of the glass on the rear. It doesn't sit in the hands as nicely as the Galaxy S5 or HTC One M8.

The latest rumours we've heard suggest the Sony Xperia Z4 will be announced in the UK as the Sony Xperia Z3+, and that it will be released here at the end of May. According to Mobiltelefon.ru, a white paper for a Style Cover Window SCR30 phone case shows that the international version of the Sony Xperia Z4 is the Sony Xperia Z3+. Why the name change? Well, we're still working on that one.

1. HTC One M9

We are massive fans of the HTC One M8, and the HTC One M9 is even better. Although HTC has kept the full-HD screen rather than the quad-HD screens seen in the new Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, the HTC One M9 is a very attractive phone with some impressive performance. 2.Sony Xperia Z4

After all the rumours that the Sony Xperia Z4 would be delayed until September, the Z4 has now been officially unveiled in Japan. However, we're still waiting on details of a UK launch. The phone isn't too disimilar to the Sony Xperia Z3, with a 5.2in full-HD screen and Sony's usual waterproofing protection. It's a bit slimmer and has a faster processor, too. 3. LG G4 in 2015

LG is calling the G4 the 'most ambitious smartphone yet', which is focused on delivering 'comfortable elegance, a great visual experience and a human-centric user experience'. We stand by our statement that the LG G3 was the very best phone you could buy in 2014, and things just get better with the LG G4 - although opinion is divided on that leather case (also available in ceramic versions). Key specifications include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, a 5.5in Quad HD IPS Quantum display, 32GB of storage (with microSD support) and a 3000mAh removable battery. 4. LG G Flex 2

The G4 isn't LG's only exciting new smartphone for 2015. At CES 2015 it unveiled the G Flex 2, a curved-screen handset. The G Flex 2 is a 5.5in-screen smartphone with a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core chip, and it features self-healing technology. Read all about the LG G Flex 2 here.

5. Samsung Galaxy Note 5
Everyone always bangs on about Samsung's Galaxy S line-up, but it's the Note series that really impresses. The Note 4 was unveiled at a Samsung Unpacked event prior to September's IFA tradeshow (3 September 2014), and right now sits at the top of our fastest smartphone and best phablet charts. 6. Xiaomi Mi 4i

Xiaomi has taken the wraps off its Mi 4i, a plastic, upgraded version of its flagship Mi 4, with a low price tag of Rs. 12,999 (£136) yet some very good specs. It has a 5in full-HD screen with Sunlight display, a second-generation 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. Just 7.8mm thick, Xiaomi has still managed to squeeze in a 13Mp rear camera that lies flush to the case. It's dual-SIM dual-standby out the box, with both SIMs supporting 4G. The Xiaomi Mi 4i will go on sale on 30 April, but to buy one in the UK you'll need to go through unofficial channels. 7. Asus Zenfone 2

We've yet to get our hands on an Asus Zenfone 2, but the top-end model (ZE551ML) is now available at Amazon for £309.99. This powerful phone has a staggering 4GB of RAM and a 2.3GHz 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 quad-core processor. For storage 32GB is fitted, and you can get more through microSD. There's 4G LTE support (dual-SIM, dual active), a 5.5in full-HD IPS screen, and 13Mp rear- and 5Mp front cameras. The stylish brushed-metal case is just 3.9mm thick at the edges. Running the fully customisable ZenUI software, the Zenfone 2 also has Trend Micro security preinstalled. The Asus Zenfone 2 is well worth a look.

8. Ubuntu smartphone

The Ubuntu phone is finally here in the form of the Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition. It costs €169 and runs a 1.3GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. 9. Samsung Galaxy S6 Active

Yet another rumoured Samsung Galaxy S6 variant, the Active should be a rugged version of the Samsung Galaxy S6. It's a credible theory, given that the Samsung Galaxy S6 no longer features waterproofing. 10. Samsung Galaxy A7

Samsung has confirmed its Galaxy A7, a gorgeous phablet with a 6.3mm unibody metal chassis, a 5.5in Super AMOLED screen and a 64-bit octa-core processor.
